Remembering Bobby Frankel
Bobby Frankel was a young trainer on the NY circuit in the late 60's and early 70's.
He claimed a horse named Barometer for something like $35,000.
He proceeded to put the horse in a $100,000 stakes race, I believe it was the Excelsior Handicap, at a mile and and 1/8 (9 Furlongs).
He stole the race on the front end and paid $30.
Bobby Frankel went on to being one of the leading trainers in the country.
Sadly, Bobby Frankel passed away this year. He will be missed.
Memorably,
Michael Todd
